YOUR INFORMATION

Privacy notice

How Cognac Brown Ltd uses your information on Steve’s Jobs. Updated 28 October 2026.

Who is responsible?

Cognac Brown Ltd (company number 06795061) operates Steve’s Jobs and is responsible for the personal information described here. See company details for our registered office. Contact us through the Contact page about your information or rights.

Anonymous site counts

We count page loads on jobs and blog pages, broad search-engine or Instagram arrivals, and search, save and Apply clicks to understand whether the site helps people find work. We store daily totals only for up to 90 days: no cookies, visitor identifiers, IP addresses, search text, job IDs, CV answers or full referrer URLs are saved in these counts. These totals cannot identify unique visitors or confirm an application. The CV Builder sends no analytics. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable these counts. Ordinary hosting security logs are separate.

The weekly newsletter

If you subscribe, MailerLite processes your email address, subscription records and technical information such as your IP address and sign-up time for us so we can send the weekly Steve’s Jobs newsletter. This includes opportunities, employer highlights and practical advice. We rely on your consent. Confirm your subscription if a confirmation email is requested. You can unsubscribe using the link in any newsletter or contact us to withdraw consent.

We keep your subscription while you remain subscribed. After you unsubscribe, a limited suppression record may be retained to honour your choice. MailerLite may retain technical delivery, security and engagement records under its service settings and policies. Read MailerLite’s privacy policy, including its information about international transfers and safeguards. The embedded form loads content from MailerLite.

Browsing and saving jobs

No account is required to browse. Your saved jobs, application status and display preferences are kept in this browser on this device. Clearing site data removes them. We do not receive your CV or an application when you follow an employer’s Apply link. Employer websites have their own privacy notices.

The CV Builder

The CV Builder makes your CV on your device. Your answers, contact details, draft and generated files are not sent to us, an AI service or employers. No account or email signup is needed. An email address you add is used only as contact information in your local draft and CV.

Your draft is kept in temporary storage in the current browser tab to let you move between steps and refresh. Drafts older than 24 hours are cleared when the builder next accesses them. Closing a tab normally ends its session, but browsers may restore it. Use Clear my CV to remove the builder draft and preview, especially on a shared device. It does not remove downloaded files, saved jobs or application tracking. If browser storage is unavailable, your draft works only in memory and refreshing may lose it.

We use temporary saving only to provide the builder you request, not for advertising or profiling. No AI writing service, newsletter embed or payment widget loads in the builder. Ordinary technical connection information is still needed to serve and protect the website; we do not include your CV answers in site requests or application logs. We cannot retrieve or recover a CV that stays on your device. Download a copy to keep it. The builder currently follows UK CV guidance for people aged 16 and over.

Contact and employer enquiries

The Contact form sends your name, email and message through Formspree so we can respond. We use this information to handle your request, based on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, or to take steps towards a contract when appropriate. Keep sensitive information out of your message. We retain correspondence only as needed to handle the enquiry and related business records.

Paid job posts

If you purchase a job post, we process the business and contact information needed to fulfil your order and keep required transaction records. Public vacancy information appears on the site; private contact details do not appear in the public feed. PayPal processes payments under its own privacy notice. We rely on the contract and applicable legal obligations for order and accounting records.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct or delete your information, restrict or object to its use, or receive a portable copy. You can withdraw newsletter consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. Contact us through the Contact page to make a request. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
